About Me

Background

Hi, I am Jenna Denton, I originally qualified as an early years teacher before continuing my training to become a certified play therapist in 2017.  I am a member of Play Therapy UK (PTUK).  My membership details can be found on the PTUK register www.playtherapyregister.org.uk  I am based in West Cornwall and have worked predominantly around the Penzance area in a range of settings which include primary and secondary schools, nurseries and colleges.  I provide work as a self employed sub contractor for a number of organisations which include the charities First Light and CLEAR, Cornwall Council and numerous Multi Academy Trusts (MATs).  I have significant experience in working with children who are in foster care or have Special Guardianship.  I work with children who have witnessed or experienced domestic violence, who have lost a parent or who are living with a family member who is involved in substance abuse or has a significant mental health concern.  I also regularly work privately with families who are worried about their child fully reaching their potential.

Fees

Play Therapy £50 per session for 45 minutes

Supervision for qualified play therapists £50 for 1.5 hours

Supervision for trainee play therapists £45 for 1 hour

Supervision

In 2018 I qualified as a clinical supervisor with PTUK.  I offer supervision to both trainee and qualified play therapists.  Sessions can be face to face and/or online.  I have provided group supervision on the Academy of Play and Child Pyschotherapy (APAC) training courses.  I have also provided small group supervision to members of teaching staff working with vulnerable children in schools.  I facilitate a safe and confidential space where we can explore both cognitively and creatively a practitioners' experience of working with vulnerable children.  I aim to support and help alleviate supervisees' potential feelings of isolation and consequential burn out.

Further Training

I recently completed a Foundation in Systemic Family Therapy.  These skills compliment my work with a child in play therapy through exploring the system around the child.  Systemic Family Therapy aims to improve relationships among family members.  Families maybe struggling due to a life change such as adolescence, divorce, bereavement, family conflict or a family member dealing with a mental health condition.  I can help with conflict resolution skills, improve communication and understanding of the child's presenting behaviours and support positive reinforcement.
